Bitter Melon or Bitter Gourd Sauteed with Bacon Fat.

Recipe Ingredients for Sauteed Bitter Melon with Bacon Fat

20 g bacon fat
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
4 cups bitter melon
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 ground pepper to taste

Recipe Directions for Sauteed Bitter Melon with Bacon Fat

  1. In a skillet or wok under medium heat, add bacon fat then saute garlic until fragrant, onions until translucent, tomatoes until soft.

  2. Sliced bitter gourd, season with salt and pepper. You may stir-fry bitter gourd slices for 3 minutes (crisp-tender) or cook covered for 10 minutes (will exude water making a saucy dish - the way I like it).

  3. Serve over steamed rice.
