Recipe Ingredients for sausgae, peppers and onions

1 pound italian sausage
2 red bell peppers, sliced
2 yellow onions, sliced
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
4 garlic cloves, chopped
2 tablespoons marsala wine
15 ounce can diced tomatoes

Recipe Directions for sausgae, peppers and onions

  1. heat oil in large skilled over medium heat.

  2. add sausages and cook until brown on both sides, about 7 to 10 minutes.

  3. remove from pan and drain.

  4. add peppers, onions, salt and pepper and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes

  5. add oregano, basil and garlic and cook 2 minutes more.

  6. add tomato paste and stir. add marsala wine, tomatoes, and chili flakes, if using (1/4 tsp). Stir to combine scraping the bottom of the pan to release all the brown bits. bring to a simmer.

  7. cut sausages into 4-6 pieces each, abut 1 inch cubes. add sausage back to pan and stir. Cook until the sause is thickened, about 20 minutes. serve in bowls or sandwich rolls with bottom half of roll scooped out.
