Nebraska meat stretcher recipe. Rice milk instead of whole or skim. Portion control - serve on side - about 1/4 cup should be sufficient for two pancakes.

Recipe Ingredients for Sausage Gravy (NE variation)

4 bacon slices
8 servings (links) sausage
6 cups rice milk
1/2 cup flour
1 pepper to taste
1 (optional) salt to taste

Recipe Directions for Sausage Gravy (NE variation)

  1. Fry bacon until crisp.

  2. Remove & cool on paper towel.

  3. Fry sausage - medium.

  4. Reserve juice/fat for gravy.

  5. Crush bacon to bite size pieces.

  6. Chop sausage to bite site.

  7. Return chopped sausage to pan w/juices/fat over low/medium heat.

  8. Coat sausage w/flour.

  9. Combine w/1 cup rice milk (roux).

  10. Mix 2/remaining 5 cupes rice milk - stir as adding.

  11. Bring to brief boil.

  12. Reduce to simmer for 20 minutes.
