Sausage, cannellini and pasta dish with marinara sauce

Recipe Ingredients for Sausage and Cannellini Bean Pasta Dish

16 oz of penne pasta
15 oz of marinara sauce
3 tablespoons of sundried tomatoes
1 lb of pork sausage
2 bell peppers
2 cups of onions
8 oz of mushrooms
15 oz of cannellini beans
1 tablespoon of brown sugar
1 tablespoon of oil
1 salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons of basil
1 tablespoon of crushed red pepper

Recipe Directions for Sausage and Cannellini Bean Pasta Dish

  1. Prepare penne or rigatoni or your choice of small pasta according to directions and set aside to cool.

  2. On medium heat, add oil to a heavy/sturdy sauce pan with oil and add sausage. Brown sausage until completely cooked. Add onions and peppers and salt and black pepper for taste. Stir all together for 1 minute and then add crushed red pepper flakes and dried or fresh basil to the mixture.

  3. Add brown sugar and sundried tomatoes (prefer from jar already packed in oil)

  4. Stir and lower heat to a simmer for 15 to 20 minutes making sure to stir occassionally.

  5. Once the sauce is to your liking, add pasta to the pan and mix everything well. Serve with grated cheese of your choice.
