Traditional eastern European Christmas Eve Vigil dinner soup. Served as first course before pierogies, peas and onions sauteed in butter.

16 oz onion
32 oz mushroom
32 oz sauerkraut
24 oz water

Recipe Directions for Sauerkraut and Mushroom Soup

  1. Sautee onions and mushrooms in butter.

  2. Pour in water and sauerkraut.

  3. Simmer until done.
