Recipe is for beans - add beans separately in food log. Salvadoran beans is 1/4 cup, dried = 36 grams dried 1 lb dried beans = 454 grams

Recipe Ingredients for Salvadorean Beans Without Beans

1 medium green pepper, seeded but whole
1 small onion, peeled but whole
8 cloves of garlic, peeled but whole
2 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Salvadorean Beans Without Beans

Sort and rinse beans. In a large saucepan, combine beans, pepper, onion and garlic. Cover with 2 to 3 inches of water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until beans are tender. Add salt and cook 2 minutes. Cool beans and strain, reserving some of the broth for the beans and the rest for the soup, if desired. Puree bean mixture in food processor, using as little broth as necessary (almost 1/2 cup). Heat oil in skillet. Cook bean mixture, stirring constantly until mixture begins to dry out. Add (3 cups of cooked) rice and mix well; continue cooking until bean rice mixture is dry. Serves 4 to 6.
