Recipe Ingredients for Salisbury Steak

3 lbs lean ground beef
3/4 c. egg substitute
2 ounce onion soup mix, (2 packets)
1 1/2 cups dry breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
4 tablespoons flour (optional)
4 cups beef broth (optional)

Recipe Directions for Salisbury Steak

  1. In a large bowl, beat eggs.

  2. Stir in soup/dip mix, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce.

  3. Add beef; mix gently with wet hands.

  4. Press into thin oval shaped patties.

  5. Fry in a large skillet over medium heat until done, turning occasionally.

  6. Remove steaks and set aside.

  7. For gravy add 4 tablespoons of flour to the drippings in the pan; stirring until all the drippings are soaked into the flour.

  8. Add 4 cups of beef broth all at once; stirring constantly until thickened into

  9. gravy; season to taste.

  10. Add meat back to the pan of gravy; simmer until hot.

  11. Serve with mashed potatoes or cooked egg noodles.
