Great Rye Bread recipe with olive oil which has great health benefits - very easy to make

Recipe Ingredients for Rye Bread

3 1/2 cups flour
5 tbsp. yeast
1 1/2 cups water (120-130 degrees)
1/2 cup molasses
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp. salt
2 cups rye flour
1 tbsp. caraway seed

Recipe Directions for Rye Bread

  1. Combine 2 3/4 cups flour and yeast. Add 1 1/2 cups water, molasses, olive oil and salt. Beat on low for 30 seconds, then high for 3 minutes. Stir in rye flour and caraway seeds. Then add remaining flour.

  2. On a lightly floured surface kneed in the remaining flour until moderately stiff dough is smooth and elastic (about 6 to 8 minutes). Shape into a ball. Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease surface. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double (about 1 hour).

  3. Punch dough down. Divide into half. Reshape into balls and place on baking sheet (I use my stoneware) that is sprinkled with cornmeal. Cover and let rise again until nearly double (about 30 to 45 minutes).

  4. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Remove and cool. Makes 2 loaves with 12 slices each.
