Traditionally made with hazelnuts, but I prefer walnuts! Delicious treat to enjoy around the holidays or all year.

Recipe Ingredients for Russian Tea Cakes

1 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup powdered sugar

Recipe Directions for Russian Tea Cakes

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

  2. Sift together flour and salt and set aside.

  3. In a stand mixer, mix together butter sugar and vanilla and beat until fluffy.

  4. Slowly add in flour and salt mixture and mix until it forms a crumbly dough.

  5. Form dough into balls by the rounded tablespoon and put onto prepared cookie sheet (sprayed with nonfat cooking spray).

  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until bottoms lightly browned and tops have some color.

  7. Let cool for 5 minutes and roll in sifted powdered sugar.

  8. Enjoy!
