Recipe Ingredients for Russian Style Garlic Rolls

2 1/2 tsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
2 cups flour
1/2 cup warm water
3 cloves garlic
1 tbsp olive oil
1/3 cup water

Recipe Directions for Russian Style Garlic Rolls

  1. Add sugar and water to yeast and allow to foam for 15 minutes

  2. Mix in flour and knead until dough is smooth and elastic (about 5 minutes)

  3. Let rise in lightly oiled bowl (ensure dough is lightly oiled as well), covered with cloth, 1 hour or until doubled in bulk

  4. Punch down dough and separate into 18 1-inch balls on non-stick cookie sheet

  5. Cover with cloth and allow to rise 15 minutes

  6. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes

  7. In the meantime, crush the garlic and mix with the oil and another 1/3 cup of water

  8. When rolls are out of the oven, put them on a plate and pour the garlic dressing over them

  9. Let rolls sit for a few minutes to absorb the dressing and serve with borscht
