Recipe Ingredients for Rusk

1 c. wheat flour
1 c. white flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. Crisco
3/4 c. buttermilk

Recipe Directions for Rusk

  1. Work first eight ingredients as pie crust.

  2. Add buttermilk and mix.

  3. Roll to 1/2" thick on floured surface.

  4. Cut with cookie cutter or glass.

  5. Bake twelve minutes at 400 degrees.

  6. Slice while warm, then toast for one hour at 250 degrees.
