Adapted from Gold Medal Better For Bread Flour bag.

Recipe Ingredients for Rose's Hearth Bread

3 c bread flour
1 c whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp sea salt
1 1/4 tsp dry active yeast
1 1/3 c warm water
1 tsp honey

Recipe Directions for Rose's Hearth Bread

  1. Also spoon ingredients into measuring cup or spoon. Level off with knife to get the right amount.

  2. Bread Machines:Follow instructions of Machine

  3. Oven:

  4. Mix flours, salt & yeast.

  5. Stir in water and honey.

  6. Kneed on lightly floured surface,until smooth

  7. Place in oiled bowl,turning to oil all sides.

  8. Cover tightly with plastic wrap.

  9. Place in warm place for 1 hour.

  10. Gently punch dough to deflate.

  11. Flatten dough, shape into ball.

  12. Place on cookie sheet with parchment paper.

  13. Cover with oiled plastic wrap for 45 min.

  14. Take off wrap,carefully cut an X

  15. Spray with small amount of water.

  16. In oven, place 1 c water.

  17. Bake 475 for 10 min.

  18. Reduce heat to 425, bake for 20 min.

  19. Cool on cooling rack.
