Super dough that bakes sturdy men, lollipops, and hanging ornaments. The glazw stays sticky for about thirty minutes to allow for lots of decorating trials and errors. May also be iced and decorated.

Recipe Ingredients for Rolled Ginger Cookies

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1/3 cup water
3 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Rolled Ginger Cookies

  1. Cream butter and sugar together. Add molasses and water. Mix in remaining ingredients. Roll out on lightly floured board. Cut dough into shapes of gingerbread men and circles. Make hole 1/2 inch from top edge using milkshake straw.

  2. Lollipops:

  3. Shape 1/3 cup dough into ball. Insert small wooden stick. Arrange on greased cookie sheet. Press with glass to 1/4 inch thick. Bake in 350*F oven for 8-10 minutes. Cook thicker cookies a bit longer. Makes about 2 dozen men and circles.

  4. Glazing and Decorating:

  5. Brush tops of cookies with warm corn syrup. Apply decorations to your liking.
