Rod made this with rosemary from our garden and veggies from whole foods. The color is bright green and the smell is amazing.

Recipe Ingredients for Rod's split Pea Soup

3 cups Split Peas
1 cup carrots
1 cup celery
1 T rosemary
8 strips bacon
1 cup onions
1 t salt
1 t pepper
2 cups potatoes
4 quarts water
1 t basil
1 t thyme

Recipe Directions for Rod's split Pea Soup

  1. fry bacon

  2. brown onions in bacon fat

  3. drain and add to crock pot.

  4. Add all ingredients and fill with water

  5. cook 8 hours or until soft
