Hot winter soup with little fat and lots of protein

Recipe Ingredients for Robyn's lentil soup

1 lb. lentils
28 oz. crushed tomatoes
4 carrots
10 cups water
4 garlic cloves
1/4 cup raw wheat germ
1/2 cup fresh mushrooms
2 chicken bouillon cubes
1/4 cup fresh thyme
1/2 tsp. fresh sage
1/4 tsp. pure olive oil

Recipe Directions for Robyn's lentil soup

  1. Chop garlic and carrots set aside

  2. Sautee garlic with olive oil in a large pot approx. 3 minutes

  3. Add water and bouillon cubes to garlic over medium heat simmer until bouillon is disolved

  4. Add carrots, tomatoes, lentils, thyme, sage and mushrooms cover; bring to boil, turn heat to simmer until lentils completely cooked. Add wheat germ, serve hot.
