Recipe Ingredients for Rice Congee with chicken and pork

6 cups of water
1/2 cup of white rice
1/2 lb chicken breast
3/4 lb of pork
1/2 teaspoon of salt

Recipe Directions for Rice Congee with chicken and pork

  1. Bring water to boil in large pot.

  2. Add in rice, wait for second boil

  3. turn down heat to low simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally, so pot does not stick.

  4. take chicken breast, clean and remove all fat

  5. take pork clean and remove all fat.

  6. Add chicken and pork, after one hour

  7. bring water to boil again.

  8. lower heat to low simmer again and continue to boil for another hour to two hours.

  9. Congee is done after two to three hours depending on consistency, and soupyness.

  10. Break the chicken and pork into pieces, with two forks.

  11. Season with about 1/2 teaspoon of salt or to taste
