Recipe Ingredients for Refried beans

3/8 cup pinto beans
3/8 cup black beans
1 tablespoon canola oil
2 cloves garlic
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 tablespoon cumin
2 tablespoons cilantro

Recipe Directions for Refried beans

  1. Soak the beans over night. The next day, boil for 2 hours or until tender.

  2. Drain the beans, but save the liquid.

  3. Saute the onions and garlic until transluscent. If they start to stick to the pan, add a touch of the water. Add the spices and continue to saute for about another minute.

  4. Mash up (or spin through food processor) 3/4 of the beans, and add to the onions and garlic. Heat through. If they stick, add a bit of the water again to make them smooth.
