Recipe Ingredients for Refried Beans with Beef

165 grams Beef, Ground, 85% Lean Meat / 15% Fat, Crumbles
17 grams Garlic
80 grams Onions
322 grams Randall Deluxe Mixed Beans
11 grams Chili Powder
4 grams Chilies
197 grams Old El Paso Refried Beans w/ Green Chiles

Recipe Directions for Refried Beans with Beef

  1. In a large cast iron pan, brown the ground beef (about 1/2 lb raw weight) over high heat stirring frequently to prevent burning. Remove cooked beef from pan and drain off all the fat. Lower heat to medium and deglaze the pan with a little water; use to saute crushed fresh garlic and finely chopped onion. Return the beef to the pan when onions are transparent. Add some water and the spices. Rinse and drain the beans (use one 16oz can of mixed beans) then crush them with a large spoon or potato masher, add to the beef mixture with enough water that stirring is easy. Add half a can of refried beans (if you happen to have them in your fridge, can be omitted).

  2. Simmer all ingredients together over low heat, stirring occasionally, until water has cooked off and desired consistency is reached (about 20 minutes).
