Cherry pie filling made with half sugar, half splenda

Recipe Ingredients for Reduced sugar cherry pie filling

2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 cup splenda
1/4 tsp almond extract
3 1/2 tbsp corn starch

Recipe Directions for Reduced sugar cherry pie filling

  1. Place cherries, sugar, splenda, and corn starch in bowl; let sit 10 minutes

  2. Place in saucepan over medium heat; stir constantly until boiling

  3. Reduce heat, continue cooking until thickened

  4. If using for pie, pour into crust and bake as you would any cherry pie. If using for topping, continue cooking on low until cherries are tender and sauce is desired thickness.
