fluffy or cake-like brownies Metric measurements! 1 tsp. of vanilla extract can be added, here it isn't because the German grocery stores don't carry real vanilla extract.

Recipe Ingredients for reduced fat brownies

65 g butter
105 g apple sauce, natural
300 g sugar
3 eggs
100 g cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. baking powder
145 g flour
40 g dark chocolate chips
8 g butter

Recipe Directions for reduced fat brownies

  1. grease (with the 8g of butter) 2 glass or ceramic 8x8 pans and preheat the oven to 350 F.

  2. beat the butter, sugar and applesauce with a mixer, then add the eggs.

  3. in a separate bowl, mix together dry ingredients, except chocolate chips.

  4. add dry ingredients to wet--do not over-mix!

  5. stir in chocolate chips.

  6. pour into prepared pans and bake 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean. Try to avoid opening the door to the oven while it is cooking, since this has a more damaging affect on reduced fat recipes than it does on normal ones.
