An italian dessert of apples stuffed with raisins baked in red wine.

Recipe Ingredients for Red Wine Apples with Raisins

1 1/2 cups red wine
1/2 cup raisins
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
6 apples

Recipe Directions for Red Wine Apples with Raisins

  1. Mix the raisins in a bowl with the wine, sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Let the raisins soak for an hour.

  2. Core the apples but not all the way through the bottom. Do not peel the apples.

  3. Butter a baking dish and place the apples inside. Spoon the raisins inside the apples. Spoon some of the red wine mixture over the apples as well. Place a bit of butter in the top of each apple.

  4. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes at 375 degrees.
