tomato based sauce with prosciutto and red wine

Recipe Ingredients for red sauce

12 cloves garlic, chopped fine
4 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, diced
1/2 lb prosciutto, diced
28 oz tomato paste
28 oz tomatoes, crushed, canned
1/2 cup red wine
2 tbsp dried basil
2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp sea salt

Recipe Directions for red sauce

  1. Add olive oil and garlic to large pot

  2. Turn heat to medium and cook 5 minutes

  3. Add onion cook 3 minutes

  4. Add prosciutto cook 2 minutes

  5. Add wine and cook 1 minute

  6. Add crushed tomatoes and cook 5 minutes

  7. Add tomato paste

  8. Fill empty tomato paste cans with water and add to pot--repeat twice

  9. Turn heat to high and bring to boil

  10. Add basil, pepper, salt

  11. Turn down heat to low and partially cover

  12. Simmer 2-3 hours stirring every 15 minutes
