Recipe Ingredients for Red Boiled Cabbage

4 cups 1 head red cabbage
1 onion
2 granny smith apples (e.g. granny smith)
4 T butter
6 tsp cloves
1/2 green pepper, minced
1/4 c sugar
5 T red wine vinegar
2 T lemon juice
1 salt to taste

Recipe Directions for Red Boiled Cabbage

  1. Thinly slice cabbage, onion, and apples - put into pot

  2. Add remaining ingredients to pot, simmer covered for an hour - stir occasionally

  3. Uncover and simmer until liquid reduced and cabbage is just moist
