Recipe Ingredients for Red Beans and Rice

2 tablespoons canola oil
1 large onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 cups water
30 oz. kidney beans
15 1/2 oz. tomato sauce
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon thyme, dried
1/2 teaspoon sage, dried
1 teaspoons parsley, dried
1/2 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
1/2 pound smoked sausage, sliced
3 cups water
1 1/2 cup brown rice

Recipe Directions for Red Beans and Rice

  1. Cook rice in water for 45 minutes.

  2. Saute onion, pepper, garlic, and celery in hot oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  3. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer 45 minutes or until thickened. Serve over hot rice.
