Recipe Ingredients for Red Beans New Orleans Style

2 pounds red beans, raw
2 tablespoons bacon grease
2 pounds onions, chopped
2 large bell peppers, chopped [i11333]
6 tablespoons chopped parsley
6 tablespoons chopped green onions
4 cloves garlic
2 teaspoons thyme
1 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
1/2 pound ham
4 quarts water

Recipe Directions for Red Beans New Orleans Style

  1. In a very large pot, saute vegetables in the fat.

  2. Add seasoning, red beans, ham bone (or chopped ham), and water. Bring to boil, simmer about 3 hours until beans are tender.

  3. Serve with rice.
