Recipe Ingredients for Red Beans, Brown Rice & Sausage

1 lb Jimmy Dean Hot Pork Sausage
1 lb Small Red Beans
10 ounce Rotel Diced Tomatoes and Green Chillies
12 grams (2 tsp) Chicken Bouillon
2 tbsp Chilli Powder
1 tsp Black Pepper
2 tsp Cumin Seed, ground
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
1/2 tsp Basil
1 tsp Rosemary, ground
1 tsp Bay Leaves
1/2 tsp Savory, ground
1/2 cup Tomatilla Salsa
1/2 tsp Sage, ground
2 cups Brown Rice

Recipe Directions for Red Beans, Brown Rice & Sausage

  1. Prepare beans as normal, per bag instructions.

  2. Place in slow cooker, on low heat and cover with water.

  3. Add all ingredients except rice and sausage.

  4. Cook for 8 or more hours (adding water as necessary) until beans are tender and water is absorbed, but don't let water evaporate until beans are cooked to desired texture.

  5. Crumble and brown sausage, drain well and then add to beans.

  6. Continue to cook beans until desired thickness has been achieved.

  7. Make rice as per package instructions. Make enough rice for 8 servings.

  8. When rice and beans are finished cooking, mix together and serve. Or keep separate and serve beans over rice.
