Recipe Ingredients for Raven & Rayne's Tamale Masa

4 cups MaSeCa Instant Corn Masa Mix
1 tsp baking powder
3 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp black pepper
3/4 cup olive oil
2 1/2 cups chicken broth

Recipe Directions for Raven & Rayne's Tamale Masa

  1. Also needed but not listed in the ingredients: 30 corn husks.

  2. Soak corn husks in hot water for 2 to 3 hours.

  3. Mix dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

  4. Add oil and mix throughly with clean hands.

  5. Slowly add chicken broth whilst mixing until it forms into a dough.

  6. The dough should be moist but not crumbly.

  7. Spread thinly on the smooth side of the corn husks.

  8. Fill with your choice of filling.

  9. Wrap one side of husk over and seal the masa together.

  10. Wrap the other side over to form a tube shape.

  11. Bring the bottom of the husk up and then roll over both sides of the corn husk again to seal.

  12. Place upright in a steamer.

  13. Steam for 2 and a half hours.

  14. Enjoy your delicious tamales! Yum!
