Very quick wholemeal loaf. Preparation: 5 minutes. Baking 1.5 h.

Recipe Ingredients for Quick wholemeal loaf

325 g wholemeal flour
200 g rolled oats
10 g sunflower seeds
7 g dried yeast
2 tsp salt
500 ml water

Recipe Directions for Quick wholemeal loaf

  1. Combine dry ingredients.

  2. Mix well and add water. This shoulg give a wet, sticky mixture.

  3. Pour contents into a greased 1 kg (2 lb) loaf tin and place in cold oven.

  4. Immediately turn heat up to 110 degrees Celsius and leaf for 45 minutes.

  5. Then turn up heat to 190 degrees Celsius and cook for a further 45 minutes.

  6. Test the bread after this time by knocking on the base - it should sound hollow. If it needs a little more time put it back in the oven but turn the heat off and let it continue to cook in the residual heat.
