Recipe Ingredients for Quick Red Bean Dal

3 cups dark red kidney beans
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tsp garlic, minced
1 tbsp ginger, minced
14 1/2 oz crushed tomatoes
2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp coriander
1 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
2 tbsp cilantro

Recipe Directions for Quick Red Bean Dal

  1. Mash kidney beans til pureed. Set aside.

  2. Heat a small layer of water in a pan. Add onion and garlic, cover and cook until softened.

  3. Stir in ginger, tomatoes, and spices. Salt to taste.

  4. Add reserved beans and water and simmer till the mix is hot, perhaps 15 minutes.

  5. Serve sprinkled with chopped cilantro to preference
