Delicious very quick desert especially if using tinned apples. Dates can be used straight from packet but will not caramelise quite as well as if pre-softened. I like to use Amaretto instead of juice but any liquid can be substituted.

Recipe Ingredients for Quick Apple and Date Crumble

8 apples or 1 800g tin pie apples
200 g pitted dates
1/4 cup orange juice or liqueur

1 cup oats
1 cup coconut
1/4 cup hazlenuts or almonds

  2. Put apples and dates in casserole or lasagne dish.

  3. Mix all other ingredients and put on top of the fruit.

  4. Bake at 180c for 30 mins watching top doesn't burn.
