Eggs, milk, and bacon mixed and served in a pie crust. Served as a breakfast dish.

Recipe Ingredients for Quiche Lorraine

1 cup of flour
1/4 teaspoon of salt
6 tablespoons of butter
4 eggs
40 grams of bacon
1 cup of swiss or gruyere cheese
1 1/2 cups of milk
1/8 teaspoons of nutmeg

Recipe Directions for Quiche Lorraine

  1. In a bowl, stir together flour and salt.

  2. Add butter chunks and stir to coat them.

  3. With a pastry blender or two knives, cut butter into flour until you have fine particles.

  4. Stire in egg with a fork until dough holds together.

  5. With your hands, shape into a ball;wrap in plastic wrap and refriderate for 1 hour.

  6. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F

  7. On a lightly floured board, roll out pastry to about 1/8-inch thickness.

  8. Fit into a 11/2-inch-deep, 9-inch pie pan; flute edges. Or press into a quiche dish.

  9. Place a piece of foil inside pastry shell and partially fill wiht uncooked beans or rice.

  10. Bake in the preheated 450 degrees F oven for 10 minutes. Lift off foil and beans; return pastry to oven for 5 more minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool.

  11. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F.

  12. Scatter bacon in pastry shell;sprinkle eenly with cheese.

  13. In a bowl, beat eggs with half-and-half, then pour onto cheese.

  14. Sprinkle nutmeg over filling.

  15. bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand for 10 minutes before cutting.
