Recipe Ingredients for Quiche Lorraine

1 cup of flour
1/4 teaspoon of salt
6 tablespoon of butter
1 egg
40 g of bacon, meatless
1 cup of swiss cheese
3 eggs
1 1/2 cup of fat free milk
1/8 teaspoon of nutmeg

Recipe Directions for Quiche Lorraine

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

  2. In a bowl, stir together flour and salt.

  3. Add butter chunks and stir to coat them.

  4. With a pastry blender, cut butter unto flour until you have fine particles.

  5. Stir in egg with a fork until dough holds together.

  6. With your hands, shape into a ball; wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  7. On a lightly floured board, roll out pastry to about 1/8-inch thickness.

  8. Fit into a 1 inch-deep, 9-inch pie pan; flute edges. Or press into a quiche dish.

  9. Place a piece of foil inside the pastry shell and partially fill with uncooked beans or rice.

  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Lift off foil and beans; return pastry to oven for 5 more minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool.

  11. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F.

  12. Pan-broil the veggie bacon on a skillet.

  13. Crumble and scatter bacon in pastry shell; sprinkle evenly with cheese.

  14. In a bowl, beat eggs with fat-free half-and-half, then pour onto cheese.

  15. Sprinkle nutmeg over filling.

  16. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand for 10 minutes before cutting.
