*Note- I also add in a 540ml can of thoroughly rinsed mixed beans (red kidney beans, romano beans, chick peas).

Recipe Ingredients for qm's low sodium beef stew

1.23 lbs stewing beef
1 1/2 c frozen peas
5 carrots
3 small onions
2 lbs squash
6 small red potatoes
1 c corn
1/2 c Brown Rice
3 c water

Recipe Directions for qm's low sodium beef stew

  1. Bring 5 or so cups of water to a boil, add beef.

  2. Simmer beef on low heat until tender (2-3 hours for fresh, at least 3-4 hours for frozen)

  3. Add carrots and onions, let simmer for 30 minutes or until they become tender.

  4. Add potatoes, let simmer for 30 minutes or until tender.

  5. Add squash, let simmer 20 or so minutes or until tender.

  6. Add the remaining ingredients. Cover and let simmer for 10 minutes.

  7. Season with pepper, basil, and oregano to taste.

  8. Let stand for at least 15 minutes before serving.
