Mama Trent's pumpkin bread recipe

Recipe Ingredients for Pumpkin Bread

1/2 cup Crisco shortening
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 2/3 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup (8 oz) pumpkin
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
2 eggs

Recipe Directions for Pumpkin Bread

  1. Allow shortening to soften to room temperature.

  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour loaf pan (I use Baker?s Joy or Pam with flour). Cream shortening and sugar. Add water, eggs, and pumpkin. Combine dry ingredients and add slowly to moist mixture. Bake one hour or until toothpick comes out in clean from center of bread. Cool completely; remove from loaf pan.
