De-Pudged Pigs in a Blanket

By hungrygirl_lisa on Jul 10, 2012 10:00 AM in Recipes

Just like the classic party food, only with WAY less fat and calories! These are easy to make, and everyone will love 'em...

8 fat-free (or nearly fat-free) franks with 40 - 45 calories each (like Hebrew National 97% Fat Free)

1 package refrigerated Pillsbury Reduced Fat Crescent rolls (unprepared)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Cut each hot dog into 4 even pieces.

Place the 8 triangle-shaped portions of dough on a dry surface. One at a time, stretch or roll each triangle out slightly, making it into a larger triangle. Cut each piece of dough into 4 long, narrow triangles.

Beginning at the base of each narrow triangle, roll up 1 hot dog piece until the point of the triangle wraps around the center. Place your blanketed pigs on a baking sheet, evenly spaced.

Bake until dough is slightly browned and crispy, about 12 minutes.

Makes 8 servings

We do these every new year eve. They are easy and fun, but with 8 crescent rolls per container, that equals 32 little piglets, and that equals big trouble unless you have 7 friends to share your bounty!

Glad I'm back!  My day always starts well.. it's in the afternoon that I seem to be in a daze about food..  So glad I worked out today too.  Good luck to all!

Great idea!! I will be trying this soon!

Hey Hobbbs,

It's called "self-control"... I'm just kidddiiiiing.  I didn't have any self control until I started calorie counting.  Then I had to have it to hit my goal and not go over.  Measure everything!!!
