Linda...I think you are right...when we're heavier we hope to blend into the background...I know I used to look around (where ever I, meeting, dinner) and think, "I'm the fattest person here"...and what that would do to my psyche I can't even imagine. I'm grateful for the support I've received in loosing weight and now sometimes I can look around and think "I'm not the fattest person"...but then I usually want to go up to the "fattest" person and beg them to get healthy.

My most outrageous excuse...I can do it tomorrow! I berate my daughter for being a procrastinator even when I am also. Don't get me wrong...the only thing I would put off til tomorrow is getting healthier. But so far 2012 has seen a new me. I haven't found excuses for it because I changed my life. I workout in the AM (no excuses then) and I grocery shop every Sunday after planning my week. Because I gave up the excuse of "tomorrow" I'm down almost 30 pounds since 1/1/2012 :)

I've really enjoyed learning more about everyone on here. For me, I'm 49, live north of Boston, a mom of 2 grown daughters. Software test engineer for a telecom company for 27 years. I love my job.

I joined CC in October 2011 and WJ soon after. Since October I've lost 40 pounds...very slow but consistently. I work out 6 days a week right now. That in itself amazes me...I was a couch potato for 30 years. I was probably on the track for an early death but now I feel so much younger then I did 2 years ago. I have a long way to go but I'm no longer thinking about that number...this is my life now and I expect my body to decide when it gets to the weight it should be.

Sorry I missed last week...sometimes it just gets ahead of me.

When I'm sick (rarely) I just sleep. I don't worry to much about eating but I try to drink a lot of water.

The habit I've changed...Snacking after work. And by snaking I mean, while getting my dinner ready and then sometimes having "dessert" while still sitting at the dinner table. And it might not be "dessert" food but a bag of chips, a sleeve of ritz etc). I can't even imagine how many empty calories I ate...probably thousands. I do know it added up to 50+ calorie gain over 13 years. I'm finally back to before those 50 pounds (but still have another 50 to go) so I think I conquered this on.

I'm checking in...thanks for the reminder! I forgot to add goals last week but I'm going to continue with my exercise one and I want one to increase my water. I think 64 oz a day should be possible...though most days I'm short on that. And now that summer is coming I need to increase it so that I don't retain water...which seems counter intuitive but my Dr says that it definitely matters.

RE. my goal...I have amazed myself by meeting my goal (and even exceeding it) every week. This has been a good stretch for me...lots of good exercise and 19 pounds gone!!! Yippeee!!!

Thank you for reiterating the rules of this group...cause I also didn't realize I should be reminding people to post. I'd have to agree with others that I don't know how comfortable with this (though I ALWAYS appreciate the "nudge") but I'll try because I do think it's helped me so I want to help others.

I think "self talk" (different from talking to myself) has been one of my keys this time around...

I'm not on a diet...I'm living my life to the fullest.

my body loves to sweat so I should let it.

Then when I falter...Who cares...pick yourself up and move on. Perfection isn't the is.

Still (amazingly) sticking to my I should revise it to exercise 5 days a week cause that's what I've done since January 4th.

Sarah....I have the same thoughts...I was sure I'd feel better but the lifestyle changes really surprise me. I think they're forever...I have lots more to loose but I think I might be able to continue this lifestyle now!!!

There was not 1 really defining moment for me. I've actually looked for it many times...hoped for it. But really I was just barely living life. At 45 I went to weddings and sat while others danced...and I didn't want to be that person.

I've been amazed at myself with getting exercise in 4 (actually 5) days a week. This is awesome...I feel the difference in my endurance but the scale isn't moving nearly as much as I'd like.

I find this the hardest...I don't like change so I tend to reach for comfort when I get stressed about it. But I know that CC (and my local weight loss challenge) has helped me not spiral out of control this past few months.

I'm still doing good with my goal of exercise 4 days a week!!

I don't really have a veggie recipe but I've started using spinach in omelets, as a side veggie and in salads. I'm very interested to hear what everyone else comes up with!!!

Keeping on track with my goal...I exercised 5 times again last week and it's paying off...I'm down 10 lbs since the January 4th!!

No plans for V-day...Though not that I don't wish I had some!!

I was doing good last week until Sunday when my youngest came home from school to get her car and decided to use it to beat me down. She doesn't even have a clue what the effect of her nastiness has on me. She's back to school, so I'm back on track!!

Goals...I've been really happy that I've exercised 5 days a week...the goal was 4!!!

My rant...I think I'm doing so much better. Exercising 4-5 days a week, keeping my calories down (no wine!) and the scale isn't moving...BLAH! I'm not giving up though...I want this too much!!!!

Hi all! Can't believe I missed posting last week?? I thought I had but I look and it was on Saturday so that counted for the week before...I will pay better attention now.

I had a really good I posted before I joined a local weight loss challenge and it's really helping me with the motivation I need. The people are great.

I met (exceeded actually) my goal to exercise 4 times a week!! And it's really making a difference...along with tracking my intake calories I'm down 6 lbs in 10 days.

Regarding the topic this week..I'd have to say that just exercising or just cutting calories doesn't do it for me...they go together!!
