Weight Loss So what happens if you hit your calorie intake early in the day? Mar 13 2010
23:51 (UTC)

Eat a salad or a light soup for dinner. =)  Really the extra 50 or so calories isn't going to kill you.

Weight Loss I'm not kidding - amazing way to curb hunger at night!! Mar 12 2010

I was on it, I actually think calorie counting is a lot easier. I was only given 18pts a day, when I look back on it I couldn't have been eating more than 1000 calories a day! Not to mention my poor bf was starving on it :(  He was on 24pts.

SW: 140

UGW: 130

With my deficits I could only hope to safely lose half a pound a week, but this is fine for me.

Gaining it back. I don't think I'm alone with this fear..

Weight Loss Women: a question for you! Mar 06 2010

Went from a 38DD to a 32D. Yes they do shrink! I think it depends on the person as to how much though.

Weight Loss What made you see/feel that you wanted to lose weight? Mar 06 2010
00:13 (UTC)

It's a very silly reason, but I wanted to lose weight so a boy would notice me. But me & said boy have been dating over a year now! Tongue out

As I continued to lose weight though I started really getting into calorie counting and healthy eating, so everything just sort of fell into place. Now being healthy is everything to me!

Weight Loss Woah...wake up call: 6 teaspoons sugar/day limit. Mar 04 2010
21:13 (UTC)
Original Post by gi-jane:

Benchmark for sugar intake is usually placed at 'sub 50g'... it's still not a massive amount but it's a little more realistic.   Most of that should come from natural sources e.g. fruit, vegetables and milk products.  Try to avoid too much refined, added sugar such as in vanilla milk etc.   Since ready-made/processed foods often contain a lot of 'hidden sugars' ('low fat' foods are notorious for being 'high sugar' and even products you might think of as savoury oddly enough) then the best way to keep your sugar intake down is to use more fresh ingredients and cook from scratch.  Know what you're eating.

If you do buy ready-made foods a good rule of thumb is that if something has less than 5g sugar per 100g on the nutrition panel it is a 'low sugar food' and if it has more than 20g sugar per 100g it is a 'high sugar food'.  Good luck!

Whoa whoa milk products count?? I eat on average 50-60g of sugars a day, but most of it comes from fruit, yogurt and milk. So even if my sugar intake is high is it still alright since it's coming from natural sources?

Foods Banana + Peanut Butter + steel cut oats = pure heaven! Mar 03 2010
02:17 (UTC)

I don't know about the bananas (I prefer to eat them on their own), but peanut butter + oatmeal = heaven!! I like topping my cinnamon/brown sugar oatmeal with 2tbs of PB every now & then =)     Usually I add almonds to my oatmeal though I really like the crunch

Weight Loss -sigh- getting healthier with an overweight boyfriend Mar 03 2010
00:53 (UTC)

I say just let him be...if he wants to make the lifestyle change with you, then great! If he doesn't, well that's his choice. My boyfriend drinks soda, eats hotpockets and rarely has breakfast. Of course I care about his health, but criticizing him isn't going to do any good. He has to make the effort himself, he has to want to get healthy (that still doesn't stop me from 'pushing' it on him a little though lol =)  I know you care about his health but talking about someone's weight is a sensitive subject.

Weight Loss Out of Starvation Mode and Into a New Regime Mar 02 2010
17:00 (UTC)

I'm not sure how long it will take, as I'm still paying that price lol. I think it depends on the person, as well as how much weight you will gain.. I've been eating a normal diet for 3 months and have gained 7lbs since, and have just recently lost 3lbs of it. (which will probably go up & down again until I finally get a "downward trend")  I've learned your overall health is far more important than the little numbers on the scale..  So just keep eating healthy and eventually the weight will come off!

Foods Article about carbohydrates...what do you guys think ??? Mar 01 2010
01:58 (UTC)

I don't think he understands that fructose and sucrose are completely different and are metabolized in the body differently.

Picking on any entire food group is just silly, sugar (sucrose) is the devil I agree with him on that but otherwise our bodies need carbohydrates and everything else he's said (especially about the bananas) is ridiculous.

Weight Loss People who used to be 200-230 lbs Feb 27 2010
20:22 (UTC)

I started at 240, people started noticing at 220, and then really started noticing at around 190. Now I'm in the 140's and I've still got about 10lbs to lose, but people keep telling me I don't need to lose any more weight lol. I think it's because they've been so used to seeing me so big.

Congrats on getting below the 200's it's a big milestone and it feels so great to get there. Smile

Weight Loss Girl Scout Cookies!! Feb 26 2010
22:46 (UTC)

I hear ya! I am a *SLAVE* to girl scout peanut butter patties; I just don't think another cookie can come close to its perfection.

I definitely agree with the baggie idea, put 1-2 cookies in each baggie and savor them once a day (or every few days) until they're gone. Or to make them go faster share with friends!

Okay then, I'll start first thing tomorrow, since it's so late already I only managed 1900cals for today. I know the weight gain is inevitable so I'll just throw the scale out for a few weeks. =)  thanks!

23:23 (UTC)

Thanks gi-jane. =)   I have been eating over 1300 calories this last month, and the past week have went up to 1500! Should I go up to 2000 immediately or raise my cal intake by 50-100 a day until I get there? Thanks for the help

Weight Loss Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+) Feb 16 2010
23:46 (UTC)

Hi everyone! This weight gain is really starting to get to me, I've upped my calories to my recommended amount and since then have gained 4lbs (2 of those lbs very recently) I am now seeing 144+lbs on the scale every morning, which puts be back in the overweight range for my small 5'3" frame.

I know what I'm doing is healthy, but it does get a little discouraging! As I gain I keep getting farther and farther away from my 130lb goal. Frown
