Foods Eating Schedules Aug 27 2007
11:55 (UTC)

I also work the 3rd shift and I usually consume around 400 calories during my shift.  I'll have 2 containers of yoplait with a banana around 3-4am.  When I get home around 7am I have another light meal before getting to bed.  Usually a granola bar and some fruit or a bowl or cereal.  Around 2pm I'll have my lunch again keeping it around 300-400 calories.  I'll normally have a salad and sandwich or a lean cuisine.  I'll have dinner at 6pm with the family.

I also snack around 200 calories in the evening before I come into work.  It is a tough schedule but you can be sucessful at weight loss working this crazy shift.  Listen to your body and eat when you are hungry.

Foods One serving of fruits Aug 27 2007

A serving of fruit is 1/2 cup.  A medium-sized fruit is also considered a serving.  Those apples sound like they could be 2 servings.

If you want to be precise on your servings, I'd chop your pineapple, apples, watermelon, and use a measuring cup.

Weight Loss To how many calories do you +300 cut down to ? Aug 27 2007
10:58 (UTC)

When I started, I was at 379 lbs and I was eating 2000-2200 calories a day.  If you are over 300 lbs, I would eat at at a minimum of 2000 calories a day and see how you feel and how you do.  I have lost over 100 lbs and I am still eating 2000 calories a day.  Slow and safe is the best way as we all know.

The nearest TJ is about 45 miles from me in MA.  I go there every so often.  I will have to look for them the next time I am there.

Foods Hurrah for the mighty TOMATO! Aug 15 2007

I love tomatoes and just the other day, a friend brought me some from his garden.  They were a unique variety that I never had before.  They were a small yellow pear shaped kind.  They were so good.  I wish I could find these in the market.

Foods What happens if you don't refrigerate better 'n peanut butter like it says to on the package? Aug 15 2007
10:41 (UTC)

Yeah, because it lacks to oils, it does have the tendency to go rancid.  On another note, I just had to throw my jar away.  The shelf life of that stuff is not as long as regular peanut butter.  I went to use mine and found little fuzzy mold under the lid.  The jar was refrigerated since I bought it and it was about 10 months old.  I think the stuff should be consumed within 6 months after opening.

The Brown N' Serve Turkey Sausages that I eat are 110 calories for 3 links.

Some of my favorite Breakfast menus.

1.) 1 c. Plain non-fat yougurt  with 1 c. frozen unsweetened berries.  I use raspberries, blueberries, or even cherries.  I mix it up and top it with 1/2 c of fiber one cereal.  This holds me for a while.  Total calories is around 240.

2.) 1/2 c. egg beaters scrambled with a slice of fat free cheese, chopped peppers, mushrooms, or frozen spinach.  2 slices of light wheat toast and 3 Turkey sausage links.  Total calories around 300.

3.) Plain Oatmeal mixed with 1 c. unsweetened applesauce, 1 tbsp cinnamon, and then topped with 2 tbsp chopped walnuts, pecans, or almonds.  Total calories around 300.

These are usually on my beakfast menu each week.  On the day I have the egg beaters, I watch my sodium at lunch and dinner.  The egg beaters, cheese, and sausage are high if sodium is a concern for you.

Weight Loss To weigh or not to weigh? Aug 15 2007
09:59 (UTC)
I would just weigh myself on Sunday morning before you leave on the scale you've been using.  If you wait and use a scale at the hotel, you might not see the results you want.  All scales are different.  My moms scale at her house is always 3 lbs more than my scale at my house.

I use the Brown N' Serve Turkey Sausages.  They are 110 calories for a serving of 3 links.  They dont taste too bad either.  They sell them in the frozen section with the regular Brown N' Serve breakfast sausages.

Weight Loss How do you curb your cravings? Jul 27 2007

When I have a sweet tooth, I give in with a snack around 100-150 calories and then have some water.  Latley, I've been having an attack for a candy bar.  What has helped me and kept me on plan is eating a fiber one bar followed by some water.  They quench my sweet tooth and are loaded with fiber which holds me for a while.

Weight Loss walking Jul 26 2007
10:18 (UTC)
Walking is great.  I'm not one of those that walk 10 miles a day.  I walk about 2 miles a day in about 30 minutes and it burns around 200 calories.  They way I figure, 200 cal x 7 days is 1400 calories burned in  a week.   I've lost over 100 lbs so something must be right.

I think every little effort helps.  Walking 2 miles a day instead of sitting on the couch will surely assist in your efforts.

Hi Solo,

This is a great place.  I find the more I visit, the more I stay focused and with my program.  I also have it set to my home page in my web browser.  I eat around 2100 cals a day.  I've lost just over 100 lbs and would like to lose another 70 to get myself around 200 lbs.

Good Luck and Welcome.
