^You have not helped me one bit in your comment.  I live my life the way I want and I enjoy every minute of it. 

Thank you all for your suggestions. I went to see a professional and part of the reason why I have a hard time losing weight is because of hormones.  

Problem resolved. Back on track.

I've been missing in action but im BACK! I am so glad that you found this post because I was going to be worried that I'm all alone on this.

Rodettepretorius, results take FOREVER. I know what you mean about motivation though. Sometimes I just want to pig out because im not seeing any changes and temptation is all around. KEEP GOING!! You will see tone if you keep up with it and push yourself to the limit.

I sweat so hard during these workouts, its disgusting.
Keep up with your diet ladies. Treat your body like a temple. What you put in your mouth will reflect in your body but don't forget to live a little (:

You are not losing weight because you are starving your body. Your metabolism slowed down and its in survival mode and it doesn't want to let go of your fat because of that. Buy some protein bars or granola. Get food that can be easily eat in within 5 minutes like apples, bananas, yogurt. Your body needs minimum 12OO cal and if you are active, you need more.

I have been doing bodyrock workouts but always joined in too late for the challenges.

My goal is to lose 25 lb in 18 weeks and not to miss any of the 12 minute workouts! I also want to keep up with my vegan diet. HOT BODY HERE WE COME!

I'm 2O years old 5'4 and 14Olb. 

I have always been the 'bigger' girl out of my group of friends ever since we were kids. I am from a little country called Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia and let me tell you, my mother and I were dirt poor. My grandmother raised me and at every meal we had she told me to eat everything on my plate because we didn't know when we will eat again. 

So here I am, in America living the dream, right? Well, since I have been told that when I was a child I did the same thing here too. I ate everything on my plate and gained weight. I never got to a point where I was obese but I always wanted to be skinny and not the chunky friend. 

In high school I made the dance team and became more active but still had the same eating habits. My best friends have the WORST habit of going out for every meal too and drag me along. I hated the idea of going to the gym. It didn't seem like something I would enjoy but more like work. Finally by my senior year of high school my boyfriend dragged me the Golds with him and we started working out together. Who would have known that I would grow to absolutely love it. 

I am now a sophomore in college and am a Health Science major. I started to work out every day and watch what I eat. Still, I was not happy with my appearance. Everyone keeps saying, 'Alina, you're fine, you don't need to lose weight.' I know. But I want to look the way I always wanted to but never have. I wanted to have a flat stomach and toned muscles. I don't want to look like a stick. I just want to look healthy. My new years resolution was to make my dream reality and stick to it. I completely changed my diet. I am now vegan and love it. I started working out even harder and logging EVERYTHING I eat. I have been on and off but I keep on getting back on my horse. My body is now beginning  to tone up but I would KILL to lose that gut! 

Recently I was asked to model for two photo shoots. I am SO incredibly excited to model for the photographer! I never even got senior pictures! The thing is, with my clothes on, I look skinny or at least average. In reality, I am no shape to strip down and hop into a bikini and have a photo shoot. I have about 25lb to lose but I don't care much about weight as my appearance. My mother has even told me that I can make it in modeling if I lost the weight.

So here I am, working my ASS OFF trying so incredibly hard to fulfill my dream. It is SO hard and I know you ladies know. I admire all of you who can lose more than 1Olb because I can't even do that and apparently I am doing everything right. 
I'm not giving up though, results will only come if I keep going!

I am on a vegan diet because I wanted to get healthy and feel different. I have been a vegetarian on and off so I already know I can do that.  I chose to cut out all animal by products (as far as food) for a personal challenge and to see what I could truly live without. For instance, I refuse to give up chocolate because it will always be part of my life no matter what, just more like a luxury. 

This vegan thing is more like an experiment.  Although, in the past few months I learned about the truth behind the meat that we eat and think I can live without it for good.

Solid, I know it may sound like I have unreal expectations but I'm not looking at models and wanting to be like them. I just want to have a flat stomach. My body looks awkward with everything else being toned and not my stomach. Although, I will say that I will get my body fat measure by a professional. It's a good thing to know anyway. Thank you for your time. I will increase my calorie intake and try some new things out that you have suggested.

cpark03, I started my "survival of the fittest" workout on January 9th and have been taking pictures every week since then. Thank you for your comment. It helps to know that im not the only one. I will definitely start taking measurement now that you have said something about it.

I would definitely suggest to eat. I know what you mean, sometimes you forget because you are too busy. Trust me, I'm a double major, I know.  But the thing is, your metabolism slows down when your body does not have anything to process.  Grab a healthy snack from the cafeteria or buy low fat granola bars. Especially eat something for breakfast so your body has a kick start on calories and has fuel. Sometimes what helps me is blending fruits and veggies in a blender and taking it in a large plastic water bottle and sipping it as I do my homework. This is not an option for everyone but definitely try it if you can. Its very important to get your daily nutrients especially that finals are rolling around and you need brain power. 

Another thing, how much water do you drink? It may be possible that is could be water weight.

As far as my opinion, I think that you have gained muscle, whether it's from working or walking or doing something daily that may not be a big deal to you. Like said above in the previous comments, muscle mass is much heavier than fat. Most likely you gained muscle and lost fat and that is why your clothes are fitting you better. Smile

Ask yourself, how do you feel. Do you feel exhausted, energized, normal, healthy?  You shouldn't be so concerned from gaining a few pounds unless you feel sick, or unhealthy. 

In some people, like myself, my weight fluctuates all the time.

I spend about an hour lifting or 45 if im trying to finish quick. I do the job and go. 

I do more cardio than weight lifting thats for sure. I train muay thai kickboxing 1-2x a week which can last from one hour to almost 3.

I see my weight loss as  3O% cardio, 2O% weight lifting and 5O% diet.

Pretty much my life consists of studying and working on my body. If I want to take a break from studying, I run or do jumping jacks or something that involves getting my heart rate up. I just don't understand why the fat around my belly wont just go! I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

What would you suggest I change? My warm up burns fat, that's why I like doing it. I can move it to be my post workout.

I am getting stronger. Like I said, I am the most fit person in my fitness classes. I find daily physical activity to be a piece of cake (walking up the stairs, carrying heavy books, doing repeated movement.)

I am increasing the amount I lift every other week, if I can. 
I haven't thought about resetting my starting weight. I should do that.  

Squats, I do more around 115lb or a little more, depending on the day.

Rack pulls, im not positive. I can't find my journal anywhere but I am sure it is a little over 2OOlb

I have been doing deadlifts. I just have gotten bored with my previous workout and decided to switch it up and do something different.

Trust me I do that. I'm not worried about weight as much as my appearance.

I take pictures weekly and notice definition in all other parts of my body but my tummy is not going away.

Warm up: Sprinting 1O.5-11.5 mph for one minute. Jogging 6.5-7.5mph for two minutes. I do this about 3 times until I run one mile. 

Weight Lifting:
Day 1 

  • Rack Pulls 5x5
  • Bent rows 3x8
  • Flat bench 5x5
  • Incline bench 3x8
  • Calves 3x2O
  • Core circuit (sit up, v-sits, planks, side planks, etc.)

Day 2

  • Back Squat 5x5
  • Leg press 3x8
  • Hamstring curls 3x12
  • Standing curl 5x5
  • Hammer Curls 3x12

Day 3
Activity for pleasure or a rest day

Day 4

  • Wide pull-downs 5x5
  • Hammer Grip high rows 3x8
  • Lateral Raise circuit 2x8 warmup*
  • Shoulder Press 5x5
  • Lateral Raise 3x8
  • Calves 3x1O
  • Core Circuit


Day 5 

  • Roman Deadlift 5x5
  • Glute Bridge 3x8
  • Walking Lunges 3x2O
  • Skullcrushers 5x5
  • Cable pressdown 3x12

Day 6

Intense cardio. Running minimum 5 miles.



Calisthenics- (e.g Pushups, Situps, Pullups, Jumping Jacks), Heavy, Vigorous Effort

5O second on with 1O second rest. Usually activities last 12 min.

  1. Squat Jumps
  2. Push Ups
  3. Burpees
  4. High Knees
  5. Switch Lunges
  6. Tuck Jumps
  7. Tricep Dips
  8. Straight Abs

This is just one example. What we do for high intensity workout changes every day.

My goal is to eat 1,575 cals a day and I eat under 1,575 cals and burn lots of calories. 

I have BMR of 1466.45.

 "Make that your minimum and add on a part say 30% of the calories burnt exercising."

This is a bit confusing. Can you elaborate? I dont even know anything about that..

I have a six pack when I flex. It is just buried under that layer of fat! I do just as much core workouts as my other workouts. I try to keep everything balanced.
