These spare ribs can be finished with BBQ sauce, Chinese black bean sauce, or Mexican chile sauce, depending on the rest of your dinner menu.

Recipe Ingredients for Pork Spare Ribs, Slow Braised

1 oz bacon fat
1 1/2 lb pork, fresh, spareribs
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper, ground
1 tsp garlic powder
2 oz white wine
1 cup water
1 oz Bay Leaves, dried
1/2 tsp peppers, red chile dried

Recipe Directions for Pork Spare Ribs, Slow Braised

  1. In a large fry pan or iron skillet heat the fat. Season ribs with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Brown the ribs over high heat but don't cook through.

  2. Lower heat, add wine, water, bay leaves and dried red chili flakes. Simmer for 1 1/2 hours, checking to be sure liquid level is adequate.

  3. Finish with desired sauce and serve hot.
