Philippine-Style Sour Soup. In lieu of tamarind, I used fresh lemons for this dish. Taro root gives richness to the broth. 5.33 oz of meat per serving.

Recipe Ingredients for Pork Sinigang

2 pounds pork, cubed
6 cups water
2 tomatoes, roughly chopped
2 onions, roughly chopped
1 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons lemon juice
2 jalapeņo peppers, whole
2 cups radish (daikon), sliced on the bias
2 cups spinach, packed
2 cups mustard greens
2 eggplants
2 cups beans

Recipe Directions for Pork Sinigang

  1. In a big pot, boil pork until tender, removing scum as they surface.

  2. Add tomatoes, onions, and taro root until fork tender.

  3. Season with salt and add lemon juice.

  4. Add vegetables and cook until wilted. Serve sinigang with steamed rice, with a side of fish sauce.
