A Filipino take on a favorite Cuban dish. We used lean ground pork rather than ground beef.

Recipe Ingredients for Pork Picadillo

1 chopped onion
8 cloves of garlic
1 tomato, chopped
1 medium green bell pepper, cut into small strips
1 1/2 lb ground pork
4 oz (1/2 can) tomato sauce
1 dash of salt
1 dash of ground pepper
4 hard boiled eggs, cut into 2
5 medium potatoes, cut into strips
2 medium carrots, cut into strips
1 tbsp canola oil

Recipe Directions for Pork Picadillo

  1. in a non stick deep frying pan, heat oil then add in chopped onions and garlic

  2. once garlic is golden brown and onions are beginning to get transluscent, add ground pork

  3. add salt and pepper

  4. stir fry ground pork until almost cooked

  5. add in tomato sauce

  6. add in 1/2 cup of water as well

  7. cover the pan and let it simmer in low fire for 5 minutes

  8. after that, add in the potatoes, carrots and green bell pepper

  9. cover the pan and let it simmer again for another 10 minutes or until potatoes and carrots get tender

  10. add in the tomatoes last then turn off the heat after a minute.

  11. garnish with cut hard boiled eggs

  12. serve with hot steamed rice
