Recipe Ingredients for Pork Chops With Carmelized Onions and Smoked Gouda

3/4 cup flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
3 lbs pork loin chops, boneless
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp sweet paprika
2 large onions, sliced
1/2 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tbsp minced garlic
14 1/2 oz beef broth
3 oz smoked Gouda cheese
2 tbsp butter
3 1/2 tbsp flour

Recipe Directions for Pork Chops With Carmelized Onions and Smoked Gouda

  1. Season chops with salt and pepper. Coat with flour and cook on each side until browned using some of the olive oil. Transfer to 13x9 baking dish. Sprinkle chops with 1 tsp paprika.

  2. Cook onion and sugar in remaining olive oil for 10 minutes or until carmelized, stirring often. Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Remove from heat, stir in remaining paprika. Spoon onion over chops. Pour broth over onion mixture. Cover and bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

  3. Remove from oven and transfer to serving platter. Pour onion mixture through sieve into 4 cup measuring cup. Add enough water to make 2 cups fluid. Set aside. Return solids to baking dish, top with pork chops. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake 5 minutes until cheese is melted. Set aside and keep warm.

  4. Melt butter over low heat, add 3.5 tbsp flour stirring until mixture is smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.

  5. Gradually add reserved broth mixture, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. until thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Serve chops and onions with sauce
