Dinner bread, or bread-substitute for sandwiches

Recipe Ingredients for Popovers

2 eggs
1 cup 2% milk
1 cup flour
1/2 t salt

Recipe Directions for Popovers

  1. Grease 6 custard cups and preheat oven to 450 F

  2. Whisk eggs with salt until beaten but not frothy.

  3. Stir in the flour, then add milk.

  4. Stir until smooth, but do not overbeat.

  5. Fill custard cups 1/2 full (scant).

  6. Bake 25 minutes at 450, then turn oven down to 350 and bake 15-20 minutes more.

  7. Use knife to gently loosen and remove popovers from cups immediately.
