A morning smoothie to get you going! I prefer to use frozen berries in mine. My husband named the smoothie because of the thick, green consistency to it. It looks like pond scum, but tastes great!

Recipe Ingredients for Pond Scum Smoothie

1/4 cup Pineapple Chunks in 100% Juice
3/4 cup Frozen Red Raspberries
0.13 cup Organic Yogurt
1/2 cup, thawed Strawberries
1 medium (7" to 7-7/8" long) Bananas
1 tbsp Greens
1 serving Wheatgrass
1 serving Hawaiian Spirulina Pacifica

Recipe Directions for Pond Scum Smoothie

  1. Start with about 1/2 wheatgrass juice. I grow my own wheatgrass, so for me, this involves cutting two large handfuls of grass out of the flat, putting it in the blender with 1/2c water, and processing it until the water is nice and green and foamy, then straining the pulp out, as it is indigestible.

  2. Add 1 serving each (one per person) spirulina and Barlean's green, blend.

  3. Add 1 banana, 1/2c. strawberries, 1/4c. pineapple, 1/4c. raspberries, and 1/8c. yogurt. Blend until smooth- add more juice, water, fruit or yogurt to make desired consistency.

  4. Spirulina is incredibly good for you! It will provide you with a burst of energy to start the day!
