Quick Romanian Dish (Also found in Italy, Bulgaria, Greece)

Recipe Ingredients for Polenta

200 grams corn grits
500 ml water
1 pinch salt
1 tsp butter
1 tbsp milk, 1%

Recipe Directions for Polenta

  1. Boil water.

  2. Add butter and salt.

  3. Add grits gradually:

  4. First add 1/3 and wait until the mixture starts to thicken. (~2-3 minutes)

  5. Then add the rest stirring constantly.

  6. Bring to a boil and stir occasionally.

  7. When it starts to stick to the pan, it's done.

  8. Let sit for a few minutes, then pour in a ceramic or glass bowl.

  9. If you want, after a few minutes, you can unmold it on a wooden cutting board.

  10. Romanians traditionally cut it into slices with string after it has cooled.
