Plum Dumplings made with German Plums

Recipe Ingredients for Plum Dumpling

7 medium potatos
4 cups flour
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
32 fruit+2-1/8"+dia plums
32 sugar cubes
1/4 cup butter
1 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Recipe Directions for Plum Dumpling

  1. Mash potatoes

  2. Add to flour while potatoes are slightly warm

  3. Add egg and knead lightly until smooth

  4. Remove pits from plums and replace with sugar cube (slit plum half way)

  5. Roll out dough to be one quarter / one half inch thick

  6. Cut dough into 4 inch squares

  7. Wrap each plum in dough to form ball

  8. Drop dumplings into boiling salted water (6 to 8 at a time) and boil for 10 minutes

  9. Remove dumplings into warm dish that contains browned buttered bread crumbs mixed with the 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon

  10. Sprinkle remaining bread crumb mixture over the dumplings
