Very basic. No frills. But very yummy & healthy. If you are not dieting, I highly recommend homemade corn muffins with real butter as an accompaniment. Oh, and each healthy serving costs about $0.35!

Recipe Ingredients for Plain Old Lentils

16 oz lentils, dried
5 cups water (increase or decrease to taste; during cooking much of the water will evaporate)

Recipe Directions for Plain Old Lentils

  1. Wash lentils.

  2. Soak for at least 30 minutes.

  3. Change water.

  4. Bring to boil.

  5. Simmer uncovered for 45 minutes or more.

  6. Finished product will be thick and wholesome. If you want it more like soup, increase water.
