Original recipe from The Joy of Cooking. Recipe makes 2 pizza crusts.

Recipe Ingredients for Pizza Dough

1 1/3 c water, warm
2 1/4 tbsp active dry yeast
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp salt

Recipe Directions for Pizza Dough

  1. Activate yeast in warm water.

  2. Add all ingredients to bowl of stand mixer. Knead on low speed until dough forms a smooth ball, about 10 minutes.

  3. Transfer dough to oiled bowl and turn once to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

  4. Divide dough into 2 balls. Cover loosely and let rest 10 minutes.

  5. Flatten each ball of dough to 12 inch round and place on pizza peel dusted with cornmeal to prevent sticking. Top as desired. Bake on pre-heated baking stone in 475 degree oven for about 12 minutes.
