Healthier base for homemade pizzas

Recipe Ingredients for Pizza Crust (whole wheat with flax)

3/4 c All Purpose Flour
1/2 c Whole Wheat Flour
1/4 c Flaxseed meal
1/2 t salt
1/2 t sugar
3/4 t active dry yeast
1/2 c water, lukewarm
1 T Olive Oil

Recipe Directions for Pizza Crust (whole wheat with flax)

  1. Mix all dry ingredients - including yeast - in a large bowl. Add water and oil, stir to combine into a ball. Dump onto flour work surface, knead for a couple of minutes to smooth it out (OK to walk away and let it sit for a few minutes if it's not cooperating!) Spray the mixing bowl with oil, put dough back in, and cover. Let rise for 1 or 2 hours, until doubled.

  2. Preheat oven to highest temp (or 500 degrees).

  3. After rising, gently deflate dough on work surface; cover with bowl, and let sit for 20 minutes. Roll out dough to desired thickness (I prefer thinner, since it means a "larger" piece ;) Add toppings, put in oven to bake for about 10 minutes, or until edges are crispy.
